NEW REQUIREMENTS in the USE of DIISOCYANATES

The European Commission adopted Regulation 2020/1149 of August 3, 2020 with the aim of limiting respiratory and skin sensitization potentially caused by diisocyanates by requiring specific operator training prior to use if the product has a diisocyanate content, individually or in a mixture, greater than 0.1 percent by weight.

In this pill, we will explain the new requirements introduced by Regulation 2020/1149 to Annex XVII of Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 of the European Parliament and of the European Council on the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) regarding diisocyanates. In particular, we will clarify the training and information requirements for professional and industrial operators using products containing diisocyanates having a concentration above 0.1 percent that will come into force as of August 24, 2023.
